Sinar Harian's community programme in Kuala Pilah. It was really tiring when you have to drive from one location to several other locations all within a space of about eight hours. The fact that the weather was hot also contributed much to the tiredness. But overall it was a worthwhile experience as it was the first time I visited Kuala Pilah.
The programme started at Kampung Mampas Kecil where a gotong-royong was held. The breakfast served here further strengthened my belief that Kuala Pilah is the perfect to visit if you are looking for something spicy to eat. The sambal served with nasi lemak during breakfast was certainly one of the best I had had for quite some time. It was certainly spicy..or too spicy for some.
One of the most memorable moment in Kuala Pilah was the outing at a paddy field. Not only was it an outing at the paddy field, there was also a fishing competition when competitors had to fish for some small-looking fish from the paddy field. It was a first experience for me. Although I have to admit that it was really really tough trying to catch something as small as that. In the end, I did not even manage to catch anything. Sigh.
This was where the programme started...at Ladang Alam Warisan. A perfect place for those who love outing in the wild. Also an opportunity for Dhamia to get up close and personal with a type of deer...frankly, I do not even know the difference between one and another. They certainly look the same to me...and smell the same too.
Then it's off to a nearby kampung for dodol making. Not really my cup of tea. The entire process of cooking the coconut milk mixed with sugar, gula melaka and others certainly looked to be quite a daunting task. I will stick to dodol durian thanks.
